Children supported by Harrogate and District Women’s Aid say thanks to Harrogate & District Travel

Thank you to Harrogate District TravelThe children supported by Harrogate and District Women’s Aid made a touching thank you card following a trip to Blackpool Pleasure Beach. Once a year Harrogate Round Table organises a day trip for a group of 30 women and children supported through Harrogate and District Women’s Aid. The itinerary started from Pier Head in Harrogate on No 36 bus, kindly provided by Harrogate & District Travel, to Blackpool. After a few hours enjoying the roller coasters and dancing fountains of the Pleasure Beach, the party was treated to splendid dinner at the Admiral Pub in Blackpool, a short walk and a long tram ride to see the spectacular Blackpool illuminations. The trip returned to Harrogate just after 11pm exhausted and happy.

Remo Biagioni, the Round Table’s community service chairman, said that this trip “is one of the most rewarding aspects of our community service work. The trip has such an immediate and positive effect on local children – and their mothers – who are experiencing a difficult time”.

Harrogate and District Women’s Aid provides accommodation and support to women and their children escaping domestic abuse. Women and their children are provided with emotional and practical support to help them begin to rebuild their lives.
