Raise Money

"To emphasise the fact that one's calling offers an excellent medium of service to the community."

We organise a number of fundraising events through the year including

Each event targets a different demographic to raise money: the beer festival targets Harrogate businesses; the sponsored bike ride, our friends and family; the fireworks display, people who have come to enjoy the bonfire; the Christmas collection, Harrogate Christmas Shoppers.

In 2006/2007 we raised thirty four thousand pounds which was distributed to local charities and worthy causes. At each of our meetings, members are able to propose beneficiaries, a vote is taken and money pledged to a particular cause. Recent donations have included:

£1,000 to the Round Tables in India and Sri Lanka to help after the tsunami

£5,000 to the Harrogate and Knaresborough toy library

£200 to help establish St Mark's Rainbows

£150 for a soft play area to a local boy with brittle bone disease

£800 to St John's School for The Deaf to fund a puzzle challenge day

£3,500 to Yorkshire Cancer Research

£250 to Children's Wish

£1,875 to Martin House - a hospice for children and Young people.
